CPL, DGCA ground school and more

Four aviation training courses plus airline and cadet preparation. Commercial Pilot License (CPL) has its own brief. The others open from this board. Fees stay off the page.

DGCA Ground School

About six months of CPL ground classes in Calicut: Air Navigation, Meteorology, Air Regulations, Technical General and RTR (A), plus DGCA computer number and medical guidance.

Cadet Pilot Preparation

Preparation for airline cadet assessments: ADAPT, COMPASS and similar aptitude tests, group discussion and personal / HR interviews.

Private Pilot License

First cockpit hours and PIC on single-engine aircraft at partner schools. Many cadets continue into CPL; others stop at private flying.

Commercial Pilot Training

DGCA ground school plus the 200-hour commercial minimum at partner flying schools, with multi-engine and instrument emphasis. A CPL is commercial pilot training — not a job offer.

DGCA Licence Conversion

End-to-end licence conversion services for foreign-trained pilots.

Type Rating — A320 and B737

Partner-delivered after CPL, if an airline asks. Some hire first and type-rate later. Not a job offer.

Airline Preparation for CPL Holders

ADAPT, psychometric tests, group discussion and interviews. Jobs are not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which aviation training courses does Aerowis offer?

Aerowis offers five paths: DGCA Ground School, Private Pilot License guidance, Commercial Pilot License training, Type Rating for the A320 and B737, and airline preparation through its cadet pilot programme. Theory is taught in Calicut. Flying and type rating are delivered through partner organisations, with Aerowis coordinating each stage.

Which course should I start with after Class 12?

Most students begin with the six-month DGCA Ground School in Calicut, then move to flying training for a Commercial Pilot License. If you only want to fly privately, the Private Pilot License is the shorter first step. Not sure? Call the advisory desk with your Class 12 subjects and marks.

Where does flying training take place?

Flying hours are completed at partner flight schools in India, the Philippines, South Africa, Greece and the USA, coordinated by Aerowis. Ground school runs at the Calicut campus. The partner schools are not named on the website, so ask the admissions team which school suits your budget and timeline.

Does any Aerowis course guarantee a job?

No. A licence or a type rating is not a job offer. Aerowis runs airline preparation, including ADAPT, psychometric tests, group discussion and interview practice, when airline vacancies open. Airlines make their own selection decisions, so no academy can honestly promise you a seat.

How much do the courses cost?

Fees are not published online because they change by stage, school and batch. Aerowis quotes them on enquiry. Call or WhatsApp +91 8594 000 730, or email info@aerowis.com, and ask for a written breakup that includes flying hours, exams and any separate type rating cost.

What is the difference between a PPL, a CPL and a type rating?

A PPL lets you fly privately and not for pay. A CPL lets you fly professionally, but a CPL alone does not qualify you for an airliner. A type rating adds authority for one aircraft, such as the A320 or B737. Most airline pilots hold all three.

Can I do all the training in Calicut?

Only the theory. DGCA Ground School runs at the Calicut campus. Flying hours and type rating are delivered at partner organisations, in India or overseas, and Aerowis coordinates each stage. Ask the admissions team how your plan splits between Calicut and the flying school.

Who can apply for these courses?

Most students apply after Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics and English, at age 17 or above, with a DGCA Class 2 medical. Graduates and people with cleared papers can join at a later stage. Share your background with the advisory desk and they will tell you where you fit.

How long does the full journey from ground school to an airline-ready CPL take?

The wider CPL pathway usually takes about 18 to 24 months, including six months of ground school and at least 200 hours of flying. Your own timeline depends on exam results, medicals, weather and training slots. A type rating is a separate course after that.

How do I book a counselling call or visit the campus?

Call or WhatsApp +91 8594 000 730 (Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm) or email info@aerowis.com. Share your qualification, age and the course you are considering. The advisory desk will explain the right starting point and the next batch, and you can plan a campus visit in Calicut.
